Vet Visit for Pippin
I had to take my dog to the vet. Pippin, my dachshund, had been shaking his head and scratching at his ear. It didn’t go away on it’s own, so we made an appointment with our local vet to get him checked out. I got an appointment right away and they agreed that his symptoms warranted a vet visit.
I happened to be out of town on the day of the appointment, so I woke up early to drive home and pick up Pippin for the visit. The drive was very smooth and there was no traffic! I grabbed a Starbucks on the way which made the trip even more enjoyable. I got home early so I was able to relax and take my time. I arrived at the vet appointment on time and they took me back right away.
Pippin did very well, although he doesn’t like the vet very much. Who would…? The vet came in and checked him out. She couldn’t see anything unusual on her first look, so she took Pippin in the back with the vet technician. The vet came back into the room to show me what she found. He had a long foxtail in his ear. Luckily it was surrounded by ear wax so it didn't get imbedded in his ear or go further down. She took good care of him and we were out the door in no time.
I grabbed a treat from the jar at the vet. I offered it to Pippin when we were safely in the car. He refused to eat that treat. He didn’t want any stinky vet treat! When we got home he was shaking his head still, but the vet had flushed it out. I would have been shaking my head too. After that wasn’t an issue anymore, Pippin was fully healed and no longer irritated.
I am so grateful that I have to resources to take good care of my pets. I am grateful for a great local vet office.
