Blueberry Hatched a Batch of Berries
Our hen Blueberry hatched a batch of berries. We named all the chicks after berries!
Mulberry, Cloudberry, Gooseberry, Sugar Berry, Snowberry, Huckleberry, Cranberry, Blackberry and Boysenberry.
I didn’t realize there were so many types of berries, but good thing there is!
They look like running cotton balls. They are getting feathers on the tips of their wings. It’s the first sign of them growing into their “ugly teenage” stage.
Momma Blueberry hatched them in the goat pen on Thanksgiving. Today was the first day, at least that we saw, that she brought them out of the goat pen. The chicks are getting so fast as they keep up with their mom.
Most days Mom and I drink coffee outside while the chickens, who live in the chicken pen, run free. It’s a delightful way to spend the morning. We listen to the chicken noises; they make so many different sounds. The water trickling from the fountain in our pond. The faint noises of cars passing. Lots of bird noises as they enjoy their morning. On occasion, the sounds of the goats, pig, horse or donkey talking to us. This morning, Koda is above us on the roof of the house calling to us to let him in the house, he’s done being outside.
We relax in our nice Adirondack chairs while writing our blessings. There’s a cat called Tango keeping my lap warm. Kissy, one of our beloved hens, is napping on the chair arm in front of me. Pippin, my dachshund, is napping in the chair next to me. He is sporting the cutest green corduroy style sweater this morning with white trimmings. What a wonderful morning, I am so grateful to be able to spend my mornings enjoying life.
