Scrabble Night

We celebrated my brother’s birthday with a breakfast and dinner. His birthday happened to land on a Tuesday this year and since that’s our Tuesday breakfast day, we did not change plans. We had breakfast with our Aunt. It was such a joy to add another person to our group. We arrived before the birthday boy and since my Aunt knew many of the people there, the whole restaurant knew it was his birthday. When he walked in he got a ton of, “Happy Birthdays” from people he didn’t even know. We had so much fun laughing, telling stories and catching each other up on our lives.

Once that was over, we all had something to do for a couple hours before dinner at Mom’s. My other brother and I went for a hike before he had to go to work. We went somewhere neither of us had been before. It was really pretty and a great workout! The view out into the valley was amazing with all the green plants from all the rain we have been getting.

Mom and I made taquitos, Mexican Mac and cheese and green beans with bacon. We all enjoyed dinner around the table together. Then, Mom asked if we wanted to play Scrabble. We used to play as a family at our Grandma’s house when we were little all the time when all the family was over. We were both eager to play again. I had downloaded the Scrabble app a few weeks ago so my skills were up to par for this game. We taught my brother’s girlfriend how to play and we all had fun playing together. After the first game Mom asked if we all wanted some cake. Earlier, Mom had made a chocolate bundt cake with frosting. We sang him Happy Birthday and ate delicious cake! My bother and I were both set on playing another game, so we did. After another fun game we decided it was getting late and everyone was tired.

I am so grateful to have such a close, fun and exciting family.
