Daily Spiritual Practice
After a lovely morning gathering with some like minded women, Mom and I went to lunch. There is a new Five Guys and we had watched it getting built as we drove by many times before. It was finally open! It is one of our favorite burger places, so we were very excited. We even ordered a shake for the first time, it was delicious.
We discussed some previous events that had happened last week and came to the understanding that we both need more of a daily spiritual practice. This gratitude practice is not enough to sustain our mental equivalents to the level we have grown accustom. We are still taking classes, but there is usually a couple weeks in-between classes in which a more robust daily practice is really needed.
Mom pointed out that it is important to have all the ways of learning everyday. (Or at least strive for everyday; no one is perfect.) Being grateful is us putting joy out into the Universe, but that can be more difficult when you are not also filling your cup. It can leave your cup empty with nothing else left to give. We have to consume joy in order to give joy. So, we can give attention to our gratitudes, but we must also find a way to feed our souls too.
We discussed some ways in which we can feed our soul. We can listen to Youtube videos of someone we enjoy such as Abraham Hicks or Joe Dispenza or anyone else you find feeds your soul. We can listen to audiobooks, I currently enjoy books in the self-help genre like Atomic Habits by James Clear. Then, there is reading. We have Science of Mind Textbooks that are great for us to turn to when we need some foundational work or reminders of what we have already been taught. I have a book shelf full of wonderful books that I have not made time to read. It would be beneficial to me to make the time and start reading, even if that means just a single page a day.
I enjoy hiking and yoga for physical activities. I find these can both be very spiritual. I usually hike without music so I can hear nature talk to me. Yoga can be very centering as I focus on my breathing and awareness throughout my body. These are my favorite ways to multi-task.
You can choose to do all the things I mentioned or just your favorites. To recap, you can take classes, journal, listen to something and read. Some things I did not mention include meditation, spiritual coaching and many more things that are available to you if you simply open up to the possibility. Mom and I agreed we would start doing yoga again to begin expanding our daily practice.
