Rosarito Vacation

A couple friends from high school had invited me to go with them on a trip to Rosarito for a spring break event. It happened to be the same time as my 25th birthday so I decided to go and enjoy myself.

It was my first time going to Mexico and I had no idea what to expect. We drove to our destination and boy am I glad I didn’t drive! People are walking in the roads selling stuff, no cars stay in their lane. In fact, I’m not sure if there were lanes. Cars are just stopped in the right lane as if it was a parking spot. Roads are definitely not maintained. It was so crazy different from what I know just 2 minutes after passing the border.

Once we made it to our hotel and the event, things seemed a bit more normal. It was so much fun! In the afternoons, there was a pool party. In the evenings, there were concerts and club type parties. I knew I would have fun, but I had way more fun than I had anticipated!

The people in our party were great! We all got along amazingly and we made many friends. By the end of the trip, we knew lots of the people working and were getting special treatment. We made friends with a lot of the people attending the event as well. Many times we would run into them later and end up making more memories together.

I even got to ride a horse on the beach! I get to check that off my bucket list now.

The food was delicious! Definitely not the most sanitary, but it was amazing.

On the way back to California, it took us 5 hours waiting in line to make it to the check point. We were stopped in one place for so long, we all went to a museum to use the restroom. We had made some good progress, but we’re still VERY far from the border. We decided to head to the Costco and grab food for the rest of the ride. I happened to have my Costco card with me, thank goodness! Again, people were trying to sell stuff in the roads. They even had puppies. I got to hold one and smell its puppy breath! It was amazing.

We did finally cross and they dropped me off at home. I am so glad I decided to go. I had such a great time!
