New Baby Cow Sheep
A few months ago, I found a wonderful new home for our donkey. He is living his best life with other donkeys, a little girl to love him and learning new things. We decided to get a different animal, one that was less destructive. We had agreed that a sheep would be a great addition to the farm.
We had looked at ads for baby sheep, but nothing was perfect. My boyfriend, Mom and I were drinking coffee outside one morning when getting baby sheep came up. After a quick search and phone call we were set on going to look at some here in town! Off we were to go look for our precious new additions. When we arrived, the guy reminded me of my Dad. I already had good vibes! He showed us which pen to look at for the sheep we wanted. After meeting each one, we settled on two baby girls about the same size.
We loaded them in the car and off we went to show them their new home. When they got home and started wandering around, we realized how small they actually were. Their coloring makes it look like they are cows, not sheep. They are so cute! Slowly, but surely they are getting more and more friendly. They know their routine for coming out in the morning and going to bed at night. They are very smart. We even got them halters so it would be easier to catch them if we needed to. The kid size halters are way too big! I had to modify them to fit their tiny little faces and they still look huge on them. They love wandering the property with Shadow, my horse.
We named the black and white one, Daisy and the brown and white one, Poppy.
I can’t wait until they come more into their individual personalities. Getting a new farm addition makes me so grateful that we have the land and resources to make a wonderful home for them. I am so glad I was raised with farm animals and continue to be able to have them in my life. I lead such a wonderfully charmed life.
