Kitchen Organization
My other brother, not blood but brother all the same, ended up not having to go to work because of the rain. He joined Mom and I while we ran some errands. He is just so cheerful and full of positivity. It was a joy to have him with us as we were shopping. When we arrived at the house, I put the groceries away. While putting away the items in the kitchen cabinets I was frustrated with the disorganization. It was not a new feeling, but I was ready to tackle the task of getting it all organized.
I wanted company while I worked so I asked my Mom and my brother to come sit in the kitchen while I tackled the cabinets. They were very helpful too. It was already a full day so they were surprised I had the energy to do this. They collected the trash and expired items for me and threw it all away so I could just focus on organizing. Mom took out large mason jars we had in the garage saved for a gift and used them to store sugar and coffee grounds on the counter. They found and cut boxes for me to fit in the cabinets for better organization. I think it looks so much better!
You don’t have to have the expensive plastic organizing containers in order to organize. In fact, it takes a lot of work in order to get the right containers to do that method. You have to measure all the dimensions of all the cabinets. I’m not sure if yours are uniform, but ours sure are not! It is much easier to save some boxes or plastic containers from things you have already used, then when you are ready to organize you can simply check to see what fits best. We used boxes from deliveries, cat treat containers, even a shoe box. Is it picture perfect? Maybe not, but it’s just a cabinet. You can always upgrade later, but this way it is already done!
I’m not even sure how long it took to organize every cabinet, but it sure went by quickly especially with all the help. Now, something that was bugging us is done and no longer another item on our to do list. I am so grateful it is completed!
