Enjoying New Foods

Food is how we survive, food and water and everything else of course. But, have you noticed how delicious food can be? Food is also in our lives to be enjoyed. Birthday celebrations, weddings, most events all have food. It’s not just bland food meant for survival either; it’s food that has been decorated and out of the box types of combinations. How can we not enjoy these foods?

I am a big supporter of eating food that you find delicious. If that appetizer sounds good, then get it. Of course, they say everything in moderation. Try not to eat so much you’re miserable afterwards, but yes eat what brings you joy. Eat something you know you will be grateful for later.

I’ve also learned to eat things that agree with my body, not just my taste buds. My tastes have been changing the last year or so. I’ve been really trying to listen to what makes my stomach unhappy and then in the future avoiding that food or making sure to only have a little bit. Also, to eat the things I know I enjoy. For example, growing up I hated fish; or so I thought. This passed year I can’t get enough salmon. I’m not sure if all these changes are just because I am aware and paying attention now more than I have in the past, or if my taste for foods really is changing.

Recently, a friend and I have been trying a couple new Asian cuisine restaurants. We found one that we love! My friend is a huge fan of the sushi rolls and I stick to the plates they offer like salmon. Before this restaurant, I had never seen jalapeño poppers on an Asian cuisine restaurant. I grew up enjoying bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers at family gatherings so they are a favorite of mine. So, of course I had to try the Asian version. To my delight, they were DELICIOUS!

Then, we tried another place in a different town and it was even better! They also had jalapeño poppers that were delicious. We will still go to both places, I’m sure. However, if we happen to be in the area of the second place, that is definitely our choice.

I am so grateful for good food and great friends.
