Closet Purge

In 2021, I purchased a travel trailer to live in while working in the desert. I preferred owning to renting, plus it was cheaper! It was my first time living on my own, it was so fun. I loved shopping for items I needed and some I just wanted. Decorating it for the holidays was so fun! As time went on, I added to my closet of course. So, about six months ago when I sold my trailer and moved back home… I realized I had accumulated so many things. Plus the stuff I didn’t take that was still here in the family home. I knew I needed to purge and scale down, but after everything that had happened with starting my new career, selling the trailer, moving and decompressing; I just didn’t have it in me.

Well, I finally got the motivation to clean up and organize! Mom and I tackled the garage together. That’s where I had all the home stuff I will be needed the next time I move out like plates and utensils, appliances and decor. We organized it all and put everything in a clear plastic bin. After that was completed, then I had to move onto the clothes.

I “Marie Kondoed” my closet. I hadn’t realized how much my style had changed from when I first moved out. Plus if something didn’t bring me joy, in the garbage bag it went! My size changed as well, so I did keep a couple things I know don’t fit but I love. So hopefully in the future I can wear them again. However, I put those select items in bins under my bed so they aren’t taking up room in my closet.

I also got to put some Christmas presents to use. I had asked for a few organization things like purse holders, multiple hangers onto one and some shoe stack organizers. It helped make everything so nice and organized!

By the end of the purge and organizing my clothes I had filled three giant garbage bags. One of the perks of having new girl friends is getting to share my clothes with them! So I got to send the three bags of clothes to some friends who picked out a bunch of things she loved. The ones she didn't want she gave to some of her friends and family and so on. I was glad to know that the clothes I enjoyed once were going to good homes.

Now I get to add a few select clothes that align better with my current style. I am so grateful to have friends to share with and the financial freedom in order to purchase new clothes.
